Glenn, we're extremely sorry you feel they are short and stiff. The length of the straps are the industry standard length. Unfortunately with hundreds of different styles of boat decks, there would never be a perfect length for everyone. So we did the best we can to provide the most valuable solution for all customers. Had you simply picked up the phone and called, we would have been more than happy to make a custom set of for you for the length of your preference. As for the stiffness you mention, not sure what you are referring to. They are made of material that let's you securly strap in your rods and doesn't allow a ton of hook penatration. We have been selling these for over two years and there are very few poor reviews. However, we apologize that in this case, they weren't right for your application. These are made by a retired Vet for us. He's an awesome man and would help make any size we needed. I believe our team already reached out to you, but I truly wish you had just picked up the phone and asked us to do it your way. We're a small private business and we take pride in being flexible and helping customers. We're not a corporate box that customers can't communicate with. Again sorry you had such an awful experience that you gave the product 1 star.
